Addressable RGBW LED Strip
RGBW addressable LED strips have an additional white LED over RGB addressable LED strips. “RGBW” means each LED contains red, green, blue and white. It allows a wider range of colors to be created, including pure white. Standard RGB LED strips only have red, green and blue LEDs, no white LEDs.
Each LED or pixel of an addressable RGBW LED strip can be individually controlled for color and brightness. Custom color combinations and effects can be achieved.
Addressable RGBW LED strip features:
Individual control – Unlike regular LED strips where the entire strip can only display one color, each LED or pixel on an addressable strip can be individually set to a different color or brightness.
Wide range of color matching – The “W” in RGBW stands for white, and in addition to the usual RGB, warmer tones and pure white light can be created (although RGB can also produce white, but not pure white).
Controller required – To control individual LEDs or pixels, an addressable controller is required to send data signals to each LED or pixel. Complex animated lighting effects can be achieved.
Flexibility – can be easily bent and shaped to fit a variety of surfaces and contours.
Addressable RGBW LED strip applications:
Addressable RGBW LED strips enable control of individual LEDs or pixels to achieve dynamic color patterns and transitions across the strip. So RGBW LED strips are used for programmable detailed, customized LED lighting.
Home entertainment-TV backlighting, gaming setups, kitchen under-cabinet lighting;
Commercial spaces -product displays, storefront lighting, restaurant and bar mood lighting;
Events and exhibitions -stage lighting, themed installations, interactive displays;
DIY projects -custom lighting for furniture, artwork, and personal spaces;
Automotive lighting -automotive interior decoration.
Each LED or pixel of an addressable RGBW LED strip can be individually controlled to create different colors. Conventional RGBW LED strips can only create white, red or other colors for the entire strip at the same time.
The following two comparison videos show the lighting effects of addressable SK6812 LED strips and conventional 5050 RGBW LED strips.
