What is Addressable Tunable White COB LED Strip?
The addressable tunable white COB LED strip is a specialized type of digitally addressable lighting product. It utilizes a flip-chip packaging process in which the LED chips are mounted directly onto a flexible substrate; subsequently, a layer of encapsulating resin infused with phosphors, is applied directly over the chip surfaces to generate white light.
The tunable white capability of this COB LED strip is achieved through a dual-zone design. It features two distinct light-emitting zones: Warm White and Cool White. Continuous color temperature adjustment by independently regulating the current ratio between the two zones.
Compared to traditional SMD LED strips, the COB series products eliminate visible light spots or localized “hotspots” that are perceptible to the naked eye.
This product series is compatible with our CCT SPI controllers. You can adjust the brightness and dynamic lighting effects with just a few simple taps. Why not choose SMD LED strips?
SMD LED strips have separate individual LED bulbs. To the eye, they look obviously “grainy” — you can see bright spots and shadows. They can’t produce the smooth, even light that COB LED strips do. The lighting quality is not good, and they also tend to cause glare (too bright light that hurts your eyes).
Most SMD LED strips have a low Color Rendering Index (CRI for short). This means they can’t show the real colors of objects very well. When you install them over long distances, the voltage easily drops to make the brightness of the whole strip uneven.
Why not choose LED neon strips?
LED neon strips are mainly for colorful decoration, not for high-quality white light lighting. They can not adjust the color temperature accurately, so they’re not suitable for daily basic lighting.
At the same time, they can’t create the smooth, delicate light and shadow transitions that COB LED strips can. They also don’t support zonal control (controlling different parts of the strip separately). Besides, their color rendering is poor — they can’t show the real colors of objects. They’re only good for simple decoration.
