What is DC5V COB LED Strip?

A 5V DC COB LED strip is a flexible lighting circuit that offers excellent lighting performance and also enables the convenience of low-voltage operation.Unlike traditional SMD technology, the COB technology does not install individual packaged LED beads on the circuit board. Instead, multiple bare LED chips are directly mounted on the substrate. These chips will then be covered with a fluorescent layer and sealant. This results in continuous and linear light sources without any point-like appearance.

5V is a standard low voltage, the same as the output voltage of a standard USB port. This enables the strip to be powered by common USB adapters, computer USB ports, or portable power sources, which makes it highly flexible in various settings.

How to Power 5V LED Strips with USB?

Most 5V COB LED strips have exposed wires at both ends, which makes the installation more flexible.

A USB to DC adapter cable can be used for small setups. It converts the exposed wires into a standard USB connection, which allows power from TV ports, laptops, or phone chargers. But USB power is limited and works best for short strips or low-light use.

The power bank can be used for lighting that needs to be portable and temporary. It gives you a flexible and easy way to get power without having to install anything permanently.

If you want longer LED strips or brighter lights, you should definitely use a stable 5V power adapter. This will make sure that the LED strips always have consistent brightness, stable operation, and full utilization of the performance of the LED strips

Recommended Maximum Length: To get the best brightness, we suggest running no more than 5 meters from a single power source.
For Longer Runs: If you need to light up a long area (more than 5 meters), think about using our 12V or 24V COB series, or powering the strip from both ends.
