Located in Vienna’s first high-rise, Hochhaus Herrengasse, this tiny store is centrally located in a bustling neighborhood with easy access to public transportation. Laolao had already been running a successful store in Vienna’s busy Mariahilfer Strasse in Vienna’s Seventh District before opening this store. Laolao’s Central Restaurant is a homemade
Chinese noodle and dumpling restaurant. Laolao Central is a restaurant that makes Chinese noodles and dumplings. The designers wanted to incorporate street culture into the décor of the store so that customers could feel the energy and atmosphere of a Chinese night market while dining.
Stainless steel tables and LED addressable neon flex lights are used to give the restaurant a night market feel. The kitchen is set up next to the glass on the street so that pedestrians and customers can directly see the chef preparing the food, which is a special experience only found in a night market.
The Chinese characters inside the store, which are made with LED neon lights, are also a special presence on the streets of Viana and make for an eye-catching experience.
