1. As an upgraded version of the WS2811, WS2818 features redundant signaling, which significantly enhances the stability of IC-controlled LED strip lighting systems.
2. With a data transmission rate of 800Kbps and a refresh frequency of up to 2KHz/s, WS2818 can respond quickly and smoothly to the controller’s SPI signals, so it can enable the synchronized display of complex dynamic patterns.
3. Compared with the 5V WS2813 and WS2812B, under the same specifications, the 12V voltage support of WS2818 allows for LED strip lengths of up to 5 meters.
4. Although WS2818 does not have the individual addressability function of the 12V WS2815, it offers greater cost advantages than the WS2815 RGB in most animated effect lighting scenarios.

We recently launched 24V, 120 LEDs/m high-density WS2818 RGB addressable LED strips. PCB widths are available in 5mm, 8mm, and 10mm. These 120 LEDs/m high-density WS2818 RGB LED strips have a longer lifespan than traditional 120 LEDs/m WS2812 addressable LED strips, which generate a lot of heat and are easily damaged when installed in neon tube lights.

What is WS2818 LED Strip?
WS2818 LED Strip is a programming LED strip with external WS2818 IC, DC12V or DC24V power supply voltage, usually 3 lamp beads or 6 lamp beads (1 IC) form a pixel, with breakpoint continuous transmission.
WS2818 LED strip is a three-channel LED drive control dedicated circuit, using a high-precision internal oscillator and 12V high-voltage programmable constant current output driver and high-precision constant current control module, the chip has a built-in voltage regulator, 12V and below power supply only need to string resistor to ICVDD pin, no external voltage regulator is required.
LED density has 30 LEDs/meter, 60 LEDs/meter, 84 LEDs/meter, 96 LEDs/meter, 120 LEDs/meter and other specifications. The commonly used lamp bead package size is 5050 or 2835.
WS2818 LED Strip Breakpoint Resume
WS2818 LED strip is dual signal transmission, breakpoint continuous transmission. Breakpoint resume means that when the light strip is powered on, after a point in the output signal transmission process is interrupted (i.e. IC or this group of lamp beads fails), another spare signal line can bypass the fault point and transmit the signal to the next pixel point, so as not to affect the continued operation of other light strips on the same line.
WS2818 LED strip is an upgraded version of WS2811 LED strip. However, WS2818 LED strip is dual signal transmission, with a breakpoint resume function. WS2811 LED strip is a single signal transmission, and can not breakpoint resume. Other than that, the two are almost the same. As shown in the figure below.

Question 1: What is a WS2818 LED?
Answer: The WS2818 is a 3-channel LED driver control circuit that includes an intelligent digital port data latch and a signal reshaping amplifier driver circuit.
The reshaping amplifier driver chain also includes a precision internal oscillator and a programmable 12V voltage. The constant current control element helps to achieve highly consistent color effects.
Question 2: How does the WS2818 LED achieve breakpoint continuation?
Answer: The WS2818 has good characteristics in signal breakpoint continuous transmission and adopts dual signal transmission. These signals are able to run together without interference. The first DIN/BIN chip can be selected by the user as the controller. The signal input pin and subsequent cascade chips will automatically recognize the output signal generated by the first chip.
